Dr. Patterson spoke at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine as a guest lecturer on May 29, 2009.  His three one-hour classes provided 200 first-year medical students with an overview of eye diseases and medical diseases as they relate to the eye.  Topics covered included "The Red Eye" - iritis, conjunctivitis, and orbital cellulitis; age-related eye conditions such as cataracts and macular degeneration, glaucoma and other common eye conditions.

Dr. Patterson's son Michael Patterson is a first-year medical student at VCOM and attended his lectures on May 29.
