Pam Delk, CPOT Awarded Tennessee Paraoptometric of the Year 2009

We are very proud that our own Pam Delk has received this award from the Tennessee Paraoptometric Society.  This prestigious award is given annually to an individual that has done an outstanding job in the field of Optometry.  Pam began her career in Optometry twenty five years ago working for Drs. Randy and Betsy Goodman.  She currently works in our Jamestown office.  During her twenty five years in the field, Pam studied and passed a written and practical exam to receive a title of Certified Paraoptometric Technician.  To further her education in Optometry, Pam attends local, state, and national meetings.  She is a member of the Upper Cumberland Paraoptometric Association, the Tennessee Paraoptometric Association and American

Paraoptometric Association.  She has held various offices in each of these associations.  In the local Upper Cumberland Paraoptometric Association she has held the office of President, Secretary and Treasurer.  On the state level she served as Vice President from 1991-1996, and Education Liaison from 1996-1998.  On the national level, she served as Education Coordinator for the American Paraoptometric Association from 1995-1996.  Pam was recently once again named Vice President of the TPA at the 2009 Tennessee Paraoptometric meeting held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Outside the office she has had some involement coaching a young girls Junior Pro basketball team as well as one of the county's girls softball teams.  She's very active in her church where she works with small children.  Pam and her husband David have three daughters and recently welcomed into the world their new granddaughter, baby Lily.  When asked what she enjoys most about her profession, Pam responds, "It's so rewarding to see the effect you have on people's lives, when you're able to help restore one of God's most precious gifts, the gift of sight."
