Dr. Larry E. Patterson is the medical director for Eye Centers of Tennessee and a leader in the field of cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Patterson was the first in Tennessee selected to perform Zyoptix, the advanced wavefront treatment for nearsightedness and astigmatism.

Dr. Patterson’s scientific articles and papers have appeared in numerous professional and medical publications. He serves on the editorial board for Ophthalmology Management and he has given numerous presentations for professional organizations around the world.

Dr. Patterson received his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of Tennessee. He is a board certified ophthalmologist and serves as medical director for Eye Centers of Tennessee and the Cataract and Laser Center. He is an attending physician at Cumberland Medical Center and a consulting physician at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and Livingston Regional Hospital.

Missions

Dr. Patterson’s passion is treating residents in underprivileged countries like the Island Kingdom of Tonga. He traveled there in 2000 and performed cataract and minor surgeries on many of their residents. He has made several trips to Mexico but frequents Guatemala the most. He has been there six times and had one of his most memorable experiences his last time there. He was able to restore sight to a young lady who was blind from cataracts and the lady was able to see her baby for the first time.
